Do it yourself: Installation of a Tuning Box

To begin, with the engine off and the ignition off, you need to open the engine hood.

If not already done, turn off the ignition and then remove the keys.

The vehicle doors should be closed using the ignition key. Wait for 10 minutes to ensure no current flows through the engine wiring before disconnecting the electronic connectors that need to be connected to the tuning box.

On most engines, there is a plastic sound insulation cover. It is either screwed in place with 4 screws or clipped onto rubber bushings. If it is screwed in, use an Allen wrench or socket wrench depending on the type of screws. If there are no screws, simply unclip the cover by gently pulling on the four corners until it detaches from the rubber bushings.

The connectors you will need, depending on the type of tuning box (injection rail sensor, turbo pressure sensor, engine speed sensor), are usually accessible on the upper part of the engine.

The automotive connectors have a tab that locks the connector on the opposite side. A simple press on this tab allows you to pull the connector out by gently pulling towards you.

The wiring harness of the tuning box must be positioned so that it does not touch the hot parts of the engine and does not risk getting caught in the cooling fan blades or the accessory belt. Position the box on the right side of the engine, close to the battery or airbox. Although the box is waterproof, we provide a protective pouch.
